How a civil wedding runs in Paris
The wedding is celebrated in the commune where one of the future spouses, or one of their parents, has their home or residence. In Paris that is the town hall of the relevant arrondissement. The first four arrondissements are grouped under the Paris Centre town hall.
The file is submitted to the town hall, which then publishes the banns before the ceremony. The full rules — documents, witnesses, timings — are set out by Service-Public.fr, cited as a source at the bottom of the page.
On the day, guests take their seats, the couple enter, the registrar reads the Civil Code articles, receives the vows, then the register is signed by the spouses and their witnesses. The exit onto the forecourt or the staircase is the moment for group photos.
