A Second Wedding Photographer: When Do You Actually Need One?

Does a second photographer really capture more? What changes on the day, which packages include one, and how to know if your wedding needs it.

The role

What a second photographer brings

A second photographer doesn't simply double the number of photos: it changes the nature of the coverage. While one photographer follows the wedding, the other captures complementary angles or a different location at the same time.

  • Simultaneous angles — during the ceremony, one eye on the couple, the other on guests and their reactions.
  • Parallel preparations — each partner can be followed separately, often in two different venues.
  • No missed moment — two pairs of eyes cover more than one, especially during key moments (vows, first dance).

Depending on the package

Included or optional, depending on your package

The second photographer (or videographer) is built into some packages and remains an add-on for the others.

  • Luxe package (€2,800, 12h) — second photographer included, with drone and video.
  • Destination package (from €8,000) — included, with a dedicated assistant.
  • Essentiel and Prestige packages — available as an add-on to your quote.

Second photographer add-on: €300/day (for packages that don't already include it).

When it's worth it

A second photographer isn't essential for every wedding — but it becomes very useful in certain situations.

  • Large wedding (100+ guests) — more people to cover, more reactions to capture.
  • Preparations in two places — each partner gets ready separately.
  • Large or two venues — ceremony and reception far apart, or a large estate to cover.
  • Video alongside photo — a second professional dedicated to video capture.
Photographer’s tip

For an intimate wedding or a short ceremony, one photographer is usually enough — the Essentiel package fits best. Small wedding: how to photograph it.

How to add it

Adding a second photographer to your quote

If your package doesn't already include it, the second photographer is added simply in the quote configurator, like any other option.

Photographer’s tip

Build your quote and add the second photographer option in a few clicks: open the configurator.

A second photographer changes a wedding's coverage more than it doubles it: parallel preparations, complementary angles, no missed moment. To know if your wedding needs one, compare the packages or build your quote and add the option.

Your questions, my answers

Is the second photographer included in every package?

No: it is included in the Luxe and Destination packages, and available as an add-on for the Essentiel and Prestige packages.

How much does an optional second photographer cost?

€300 per day, added in the quote configurator for packages that don't already include it.

Does the second photographer also cover video?

It depends on the setup: it can be a second photographer, a videographer, or both depending on your needs — to be clarified during the pre-wedding conversation.

For a small wedding, is a second photographer needed?

Generally not: for an intimate wedding or a short ceremony, the Essentiel package with a single photographer is enough to cover the essentials.
